I’m ecstatic to be writing to you today from my new blog! Yes, starting a blog in 2025 is probably a bit… old school? Great – that’s me.
My goal is to turn this hobby of thinking about and drinking wine into something real. I want to capture my thoughts and experiences in this new era of social media weirdness, philosophical debates around money, and, of course, the rise of GenAI and chatbots.
Let’s be honest: there’s no shortage of wine opinions out there. Wine conversations aren’t new. But I’ve always felt slightly out of place in them. Here are a few examples:
- The guy in a winery who made a ridiculously loud comment about how “this wine cellar is ALMOST as big as mine!”
- The time a man went to a tasting, took one sip, and bought 12 cases for his personal cellar.
- And an even simpler moment – like trying to ask a question at a wine store and leaving feeling more confused than when I walked in.
I’ve taken wine courses, visited a ton of wineries, and bought and tasted a lot of bottles as I’ve gotten more serious about wine over the past decade. And here’s what I’ve noticed: there’s a new generation of wine drinkers out there. I want to be part of shifting the conversation—making it about being more curious, more generous, and less pretentious.
Personally, I try to see every dollar I spend as a chance to do the right thing.
And if I’m being honest, I live with a mix of guilt, entitlement, power, and—yes—joy. Wine fits into all of that for me.
So, I’m starting this blog. Mostly to remind myself [and maybe a few others] that living with purpose and enjoying life don’t have to be at odds.
I choose joy.
