It’s time to take stock of my wine purchases for the year! Fortunately with bank statements, this a fairly easy task. Actually analyzing the purchases is a different story.

WineCost
Joseph Phelps$1607
Lynmar$1040
CADE$1094
Williams Selyem$1009
Grand Total$4750

So my total cost of wine purchases from my favorite wineries, not counting any local wine store runs, was roughly $4750 for the year.

Doing the numbers is the easy part. Deciding how I feel about these numbers is where the work begins.

Do I want these numbers to go up, go down, or stay the same? What are the ethical ramifications of spending this kind of money on something so frivolous?

As I continue to make more money in my career, I try to look back on how I used to feel about large purchases when I wasn’t making as much money. I try to stay as humble as I can when dealing with extravagance: Enjoying my success and hard work, but ultimately feeling confident in my decisions.

All of this has led me to my ‘money tenants’ as I continue to think about my wine journey. (Stay tuned).
